Jazz Fundamentals Masterclass

When: Tuesday - June 29, 2021

Do you love listening to the great jazz singers of our time like Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Frank Sinatra? Maybe you even love instrumentalists like Dizzy Gillespie or Duke Ellington.

Have you always wanted to learn about becoming a jazz singer, but not sure where or how to start? This class will offer a beginner’s guide to what distinguishes this genre from others and breaking down where to begin conquering basic techniques of the style.

In this masterclass we will:

  1. Go over the basics of singing a jazz standard, including understanding different rhythmic patterns and melody alterations

  2. Discuss what it’s like singing in a real session in a jazz club

  3. Enter the exciting world of scat singing if time allows!

After this class, students will feel more confident in basic knowledge of the genre and what jazz is all about!

This event will be hosted virtually through Google Meet with the link to the event going out via email on the day of the event!
