Catherine holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Shenandoah Conservatory and a Master of Music Performance from UNC Greensboro–both in voice performance! She has training in early music, opera, and contemporary music–and she also has a great love for teaching musical theatre! After completing partial degree work at Shenandoah in Musical Theatre Accompanying, Catherine has had a lot of success teaching musical theatre (from Golden Age to present) to virtual students.

While teaching singers in many genres including classical, musical theatre, folk, as well as some jazz and pop, she has performed extensively as a musical actor and recitalist. She has sung with the Russian Opera Workshop, performed roles and ensemble pieces with UNCG Opera and Greensboro Opera, and performed as Grisette in The Merry Widow at Shenandoah. Catherine will be making her international debut in the summer of 2022 at Roberta Cunningham’s Improving Vocal Performance Workshop in Coesfeld, Germany.

Catherine has taught remote voice lessons throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and her students have been accepted to university music programs, won leads in musicals such as “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, “Beauty and the Best”, and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. She is so excited to join the team at VBC and can’t wait to learn from her students’ experiences as much as she teaches them! Catherine is inspired by her students’ curiosity and joy, and will do everything she can to adapt to your own learning style to help you reach your singing goals.
